Relax with Aromatherapy Oil Candles

Aromatherapy oil candles are a popular way to relax and unwind. Not only can watching the gently flickering flame calm your nerves, the fragrance released by the the candle can contribute to relaxation as well. Aromatherapy is an ages old practice which uses essential oils to cause various effects. Common uses for aromatherapy include relaxation, stress relief, invigoration, mental clarity and more. It all depends on what oil you choose. For example, you may already know that lavender and chamomile are very soothing. But did you know that lemon may increase your happiness level? Recent studies have shown that lemon can possibly decrease stress and increase feelings of well being.

The benefits of aromatherapy don't stop there. Rose and jasmine are thought to be encouraging for romance, while mint is great for mental stimulation. You can actually blend more than one oil together to get the effects of both. Many candle makers do this already and come up with all kinds of scents for various purposes. Candles made with essential oils rather than synthetic fragrances are often more expensive and of higher quality than other candles. This is because some essential oils can be quite costly. However, because these oils are so strong, you don't need much to scent a candle.

This is good to know if you are making your own candles. Candlemaking is a popular hobby these days. You can find everything you need to make your own candles right at your local craft supply store. You may have to go to a bath or herb shop to find the oils you need. When choosing wax for your homemade candles, be advised that beeswax and soy based wax are the finest choices, although there's nothing wrong with good old fashioned paraffin.

The level of scent throw you will get with aromatherapy oil candles will depend on how much oil they contain. Scent throw refers to the strength and distance of the fragrance emitted from the candle. When experimenting with making candles or even buying candles, you may find some are less strong when it comes to fragrance than others. One of the most popular scent trends with candles these days are triple scented candles which give off a very intense fragrance.
